As Lutherans, we believe God is calling us into the world - together. We are a congregation of people brought together by the Holy Spirit to do God's work and serve the world. This isn't something we can do alone!
Our local congregation is part of a regional body (the Northeastern Iowa Synod), which is part of a national body (the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America), which is a part of an international body (the Lutheran World Federation), which is a member of the World Council of Churches, which is part of God's one holy, catholic, and apostilic church. Whew!
As a church rooted in Christ, we are called to work together with other churches, ministries, and organizations to serve our neighbors together.
St. Peter Lutheran is a congregation of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA), the largest Lutheran denomination in the United States. For more, visit the ELCA's website.
Did you know that Lutherans have one of the largest social services agencies in the country? Lutheran Services in America touches the lives of one in fifty Americans each year.
Some of our mission projects, like quilts and school kits, serve people around the world through Lutheran World Relief.
The ELCA is divided in to 65 synods across the country. Our congregation in Greene, Iowa, partners with 150 other congregations and approximately 73,500 other Lutherans to make up the Northeastern Iowa Synod.
